Hoosier State Farms, Markets + More
Visitor-Friendly Farms in Indiana
The Hoosier State seems almost created for something as current as agritourism. Indiana’s countryside and major cities alike are full of ways to create a unique experience – ranging from corn mazes to milking cows.
Farmers’ markets are a great way to find distinct, local produce – and they are everywhere in Indiana. Enjoy browsing Indiana markets like the Indianapolis City Market and the Farmers Southside Market in Indianapolis, or the Historic West Main Street Farmers Market, East State Village Farmers Market, and Southside Market in Ft. Wayne in northern Indiana. Hoosier country also offers Bloomington Community Farmers' Market and the market at Joe Huber Family Farm – both in southern Indiana.
Kids are more than welcome to these family-friendly farms throughout Indiana. Check out the Super Straw House and corn box (think sand box, but with dried corn) at the Cornucopia Farm in Scottsburg, take the family apple-picking at Anderson Orchard in Mooresville, or hit the pumpkin patch at Knollbrook Farm in Goshen.
Feeling festive? You can pick your own future Jack-o-lantern or Christmas tree from pumpkin patches and pine tree farms throughout the state. Just ask the Mcclure Christmastree Farm in La Porte, or the Deere Farms Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch in Lanesville.
Festivals are also prevalent on Indiana farms. Check out the Daylily Festival in Deputy at New Creation Daylilies, and the Fall Harvest Festival at Waterman’s Farm Market back in Indianapolis.
