Visiting the Indianapolis Area
Make the most of your fall or winter visit to the Indianapolis metro area. While your gloves and a scarf will be a must-pack, the area attractions and events schedule will be no less impressive. From Plainfield, an Indy suburb, to outlying destinations like Anderson, Muncie, and Martinsville, your visit to Indianapolis in late 2016 or early 2017 will certainly be a memorable one.
As you begin your exploration of Muncie, a charming city full of welcoming locals, you’ll quickly realize this is Ball State Cardinals territory. The Ball State University Cardinals are certainly a source of local pride, and throughout the fall, you can catch them in action as they embark on their impressive 2016 football schedule.
On November 1st the Western Michigan Broncos will be visiting Scheumann Stadium, and on November 8th the BSU Cardinals play their finals home game of the season against the Miami of Ohio RedHawks at 7 p.m. You can find Scheumann Stadium just to the northwest of the BSU campus along Bethel Avenue, which is also an easy drive in from nearby Gas City.
While the college football excitement will be high in Muncie, Indianapolis will provide its own blend of must-see entertainment. You can treat the kids to a day at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis or the Indianapolis Museum of Art, and the National Art Museum of Sport is very fun and unique.
Indianapolis will also feature a wealth of live performances and events this fall and winter. The Franklin Performing Arts Center will present Disney’s The Little Mermaid live on stage from November 3rd to 6th, and the Old National Centre will feature premier stand-up comedian Maria Bamford live on stage on November 4th at 8 p.m.
You can kick off your 2016 holiday celebration with an evening of live music at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse on December 7th – the Trans-Siberian Orchestra will treat you to a performance at 7:30 p.m. Bankers Life Fieldhouse is also the home of the NBA’s Indiana Pacers – catch them in action on January 23rd against the New York Knicks, or on January 29th when the Houston Rockets visit.
