Visiting Northern Indiana
Across northern Indiana, from the Lake Michigan shores along Hammond and Portage to Kendallville and Howe out east along Interstate 69, you’ll find a wealth of premier things to see and do. This fall and winter, northern Indiana will welcome you and the whole group with an impressive slate of festivals, events, concerts, and more. Plan your visit today.
One of the can’t-miss destinations in northern Indiana is Fort Wayne. Sure, you’ll need to pack your favorite scarf-jacket-gloves combination, but not to worry – Fort Wayne will offer up a wide variety of excellent entertainment options this winter. Check out the Fort Wayne Museum of Art, or the skip some rocks along the very picturesque Maumee River which runs right through the heart of town.
Don’t miss one of the most anticipated concert events of holiday season in Fort Wayne. Visit the Embassy Theatre on December 6th to see the Manheim Steamroller live on stage. Then, on December 13th, you can see the a cappella super-group Straight No Chaser live on stage starting at 7:30 p.m. at the same Embassy Theatre.
Mixed in between those two juggernaut musical performances you can see the very popular show Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker live on the Embassy Theatre stage. This holiday classic is December 7th at 7 p.m. Similarly, you can see the famed Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella live at the Embassy on January 17th.
The city of Valparaiso is widely known for their university of the same name, and, subsequently, its basketball program. As you begin your exploration of Valparaiso, you’ll discover one of northern Indiana’s premier venues for live theatre – the Chicago Street Theatre. On November 25th through December 17th they’ll be presenting The Great American Trailer Park Christmas Musical.
One of the popular destinations in northern Indiana for sports fans is South Bend, as it’s home to one of the most famous universities on the planet – the University of Notre Dame. Plan a visit from nearby Mishawaka or Goshen on February 17th to see the Notre Dame Fighting Irish take on the Province Friars in college ice hockey. The match is at the Compton Family Ice Arena, and the puck drops as 7:35 p.m.
