Visiting Southern Indiana
Southern Indiana springs into summer and communities from French Lick to the Louisville suburbs of New Albany and Clarksville welcome visitors with all sorts of ways to soak up some sunshine. One-time events, annual festivals, and all kinds of kid-friendly fun – it’s a great time to see the southern side of the The Hoosier State.
French Lick visitors are surrounded by countless attractions ready to make your spring and summer visit an unforgettable one. Try your luck at French Lick Casino, sample this season’s selection of secco, sangria, sherry and sparkling wines and more at French Lick Winery, or let the kids make a big splash at the Big Splash Adventure indoor water park.
Big Splash Adventure hosts the 2016 Splashtacular Spring Break, April 1st through 10th, filling the 40,000-square-foot water park with a variety of food and family-friendly festivities.
Warming weather also makes it easier and easier to get out on the links this season, and southern Indiana is home numerous first-rate golf courses. The Pete Dye Course at French Lick is considered a marvel of golf course architecture. Players can try for a par of 72 on the same grass where the pros played the 2015 Senior PGA Championship.
It’s the perfect time of year to venture out on a scenic driving tour – warming weather brings about blooming wildfires, and there are countless destinations throughout the southern Indiana region. History buffs especially have much to explore, from the George Rogers Clark National Historical Park in Vincennes to the Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial in Lincoln City.
Head for the Newton Stewart Recreation Area near French Lick on July 9th for the 25th Annual Star Party. The 2016 iteration of this local staple invites you to find a viewing spot along Patoka Lake for some of the best stargazing in the country.
