Set in Fort Wayne, the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo is a 38-acre zoo located in Franke Park. Established in 1965, Fort Wayne Children's Zoo is a popular zoo for families, and encompasses four themed areas – African Journey, Australian Adventure, Central Zoo, and Indonesian Rainforest.
Let the little ones loose in the Indiana Family Farm – containing all barnyard animals ready for your visit. You and your family can visit up to 1,500 animals from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
For more exotic biomes in Indiana, head to Evansville for the Mesker Park Zoo & Botanic Garden. Home to over 700 animals this 50-acre zoo was founded in 1928, making it one of Indiana’s oldest and largest zoos. Permanent exhibits include Lemur Forest, Discovery Center, and Children's Enchanted Forest – plus animals and habitats from Asia, Africa, Australia, and North America.
Open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Mesker Park Zoo and Botanic Garden also features the Rainforest Grill and Watering Hole for hungry patrons. Don’t miss giraffe feedings at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., or the join the kid-friendly “Fun In The Forest” event – featuring crafts, storytelling, and children’s play.
Set in White River State Park, the Indianapolis Zoo is a pride of Indianapolis. The 64-acre zoo plays host to 1,500 animals and more than one million visitors per year. Opened in 1964, the Indianapolis Zoo consists of an aquarium, botanical garden, and permanent exhibits like Zoo Babies, the Dolphin Adventure Pavilion.
Grab a seat on the Kombo Family Coaster and the White River Junction Train Ride, feed the giraffes, or check out the penguin display. Don’t miss exciting animal sightings like the Southern White Rhinoceros, the Red panda, and the Brazilian Rainbow boa in the Drop Dead Gorgeous Snakes exhibit.
